International Public Relations Festival

"International Public Relations Festival" is being organized by the national body of public relations practitioners of the country, Public Relations Society of India during 2-4 December 2005 at India Habitat Centre , New Delhi. The three day event, first of its kind will have active presence of the GlobalAlliance for Public Relations and Communication Management - the global body of 58 National Public Relations Associations and the International Public Relations Association .

Theme of the event is 'Quest for Leadership- Role of Public Relations' . Through this conference we also wish to show-case INDIA- its people, traditions, culture and the potential to be a world leader. Senior PR professionals from over 15 countries will address the gathering of over 500 delegates representing government, media, advertising, marketing and the public relations field, besides the global community and the PR / advertising students.

The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) is the premier national organisation of Public Relations practitioners of the country having 30 chapters and over 3,000 members from different parts of the country and has been working for the development of Public Relations profession and uses communication tools for change in order to build public opinion on various issues of national and social importance.
PRSI has to its credit campaigns like Media Transparency drive, Unity India drive, Anti-terrorism movement and Ethics in political communications.

International Public Relations Association (IPRA) is the International Association for PR professionals with 986 members from 96 countries and has introduced a Global View of Public Relations to business world.
IPRA is the first professional organization recognized by UN as "Official NGO." IPRA had and will have leadingrole in emerging markets for development of PR.

Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management is a cooperative of established public relations associations with the mission to enhance the public relations professions and its practitioners throughout the world. It was established in 2000 in Chicago by 24 national and international bodies, is incorporated under U.K. laws as a not-for-profit entity and has a secretariat in South Africa. In 2005, GA comprised 58 national PR associations representing 160,000 professionals around the world.

It provides a forum to:

  • Share ideas and best practice;
  • Identify common interests and develop global standards; and
  • Provide a better understanding of the unique aspects of each culture in which practitioners operate.

And offers access to information regarding:

  • Industry news;
  • Regional or international conferences`and seminars;
  • Case studies; and
  • Benchmarking research

And currently serves as a vehicle for examining and developing:

  • Global Standards on:
    - Ethics;
    - Universal accreditation options;
    - Curriculum; and
    - Body of knowledge
