National Public Relations Education Day

Greetings!

Education, knowledge, research and sustained efforts build a profession. Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change yourself and the world . Education is in fact the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Swami Vivekananda said, “We want that education, by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own feet.” Education must build up character and manifest our real nature.

In today’s world everybody is forced to face challenging situations , that necessarily need the strength and wisdom to think professionally and take strategic decisions. Public Relations professionals are today part of the top level decision making or at least advising the top managements on building true brands based on trust. To reach the level of participating in the decision making Public Relations and Corporate Communication professionals need to sharpen their knowledge. In order to emphasise the need for effective education and skill development in PR, PRSI organises every year Public Relations Education Day on 6th August that happens to be the birthday of Dr CV Narasimha Reddi, Past National President of PRSI and Editor , PR Voice. He made significant contributions to the PR education; he has been the ideal PR teacher besides being an effective author. He has also helped AP State Council for Higher Education for developing model curriculum and formulating PR courses . Dr CV Narasimha Reddi served on a number of national academic bodies like the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, University Grants Commission, Benaras Hindu University, Osmania University, Telugu University, Mahila University, Tirupati, Press Academy of Andhra Pradesh etc.He also launched PR Voice , India’s first professional journal.

I am happy that PRSI and CVN Public Relations Foundation have joined hands to celebrate Birthday of this great PR man as ” PR Education Day”. While we celebrate Birthday of Dr Reddi, we
remembering praiseworthy contributions to PR Education. Former Indian President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam once said, “Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge, and knowledge makes you great.” I greatly appreciate Smt. C Rama Devi, Chairperson and Shri C Ravinder Reddy, Secretary, CVN Public Relations Foundation for taking forward the great work and the legacy of their loving father Dr Reddy.

I also take this opportunity to compliment Shri Y Babji, Past Secretary General, PRSI and Editor, PR Voice, Dr S Ramu, Chairman PRSI (Hyderabad Chapter) Shri Yadgiri Kambatampati , Secretary Chairman PRSI (Hyderabad Chapter) and Shri P Mohan Rao, Associate Editor, PR Voice for their commitment to keep alive wonderful memories of Dr Reddi. Main function of the Celebration is being organised at Hyderabad; I take this opportunity to request all the chapters to plan celebrations to organise the National PR Education Day and felicitate PR, Mass Communication and Journalism teachers; as they are the ones who shape-up the future of PR world with their commitment and dedication. Also take it as an opportunity to promote Nalanda Chapters in various Institutes and highlight the promotional approach of PRSI to promote Research in Public Relations.

My tributes to Dr Reddi on this momentous occasion and felicitations to all the PR Teachers!
